I still remember when my firstborn started solids and all the things I said I would do to maximise the nutrition and health of my little one. Fast-forward four years, and an extra child in tow, and I very rarely meet all the high standards I once set for myself. If there is something that I can give my child that is tasty, a novelty to eat and packed with all those good nutrients, I am very interested. I am also happy to pay a premium, but in the case of gelatin, it’s a pretty affordable option.

Introducing the Nutra Organics gelatin

I came across Nutra Organics when I was recommended their Nutra Organics collagen powder. I was searching for something flavourless that I could add to smoothies, smoothie bowls and even savoury dishes if I chose to. Nutra Organics had a lot of reviews and backing from nutritional leaders that I followed online, so I bought some online and was happy with it. This is where I started when looking at the Nutra Organics gelatin powder to make nutrient-dense gummies for my children.

I’ve been using the Nutra Organics Australian grass-fed gelatin for a while now, and honestly, it’s become one of those pantry staples I never want to run out of. What initially drew me in was learning about how great gelatin is for gut health – it’s basically pure protein packed with amino acids that help repair tissues in your body, which is pretty amazing when you think about it.

The first thing I noticed when I started using it was how incredibly neutral it tastes. I was worried it might have that weird, artificial flavour you sometimes get with other gelatins, but this one literally doesn’t taste like anything. That’s been a game-changer because I can add it to practically everything without affecting the flavour.

How I use the Australian grass-fed gelatin

My morning routine now includes stirring about a tablespoon into my coffee or tea. At first, I thought it might be weird, but it dissolves completely, and I don’t even notice it’s there. Sometimes I’ll add my Nutra Organics gelatin to fresh juice too – it’s such an easy way to boost the protein content of whatever I’m drinking.

Where this stuff really shines, though, is in the kitchen. I’ve gotten pretty creative with making homemade gummies and jellies. The instructions are super straightforward – you just bloom it with water first (which basically means letting it soak up the liquid to get that jelly-like texture), then add it to your hot liquid with whatever flavouring you want. I’ve made everything from fruit gummies to chocolate mousse, and they always set perfectly in the fridge. I found some Nutra Organics jelly moulds at Chemist Warehouse, and my four-year-old gets such a kick out of making gummies.

One thing I love is how customisable the texture is. If I want softer gummies, I use less gelatin; for firmer ones that really hold their shape, I add a bit more. It’s been perfect for experimenting with different recipes. I prefer the firmer kind as it feels like I am eating a lolly, but my children definitely prefer the softer ones.

I also started using it as a thickener for sauces and gravies, which I never would have thought of before. It works brilliantly and adds that extra protein boost to meals without anyone even knowing it’s there.

The benefits of adding Nutra Organics gelatin to your diet

The health benefits have been noticeable, too. I feel like my digestion has improved since I started incorporating it regularly, and knowing it’s sustainably sourced from Australian grass-fed cattle makes me feel good about what I’m putting in my body. I also use the Nutra Organics bone broth for the same reason

I will say, if you’re expecting super sweet treats, you might need to adjust your expectations. The gummies I make aren’t as sugary as store-bought ones, but that’s actually what I prefer now. They’re much healthier, and I don’t get that artificial aftertaste when I use the Nutra Organics gelatin.

The versatility is what keeps me coming back. Whether I’m making a quick protein-boosted drink, whipping up healthy snacks for the week, or even using it for baby food (the texture is perfect for little ones learning to eat), this Nutra Organic gelatin handles it all. It’s one of those products that once you start using it regularly, you wonder how you managed without it.

Have you tried the Nutra Organics gelatin? We would love to hear your thoughts! If there are other ways you can sneak protein and nutrients into your family’s diet… we are always all ears! Check out our other reviews.
